SPC03-- ACT & Beyond: Advanced Respiratory & Physiotherapy Practice in Modern CF Care

By the end of this Advanced Special Class, each participant will be able to describe the management of infants, children, and adults with appropriate airway clearance techniques (ACT), including exercise, for those on modulators and those who do not qualify for CFTR modulators; explain the changes and management of pregnancy and discuss the needs of fathers and mothers with CF in caring for newborns, infants, and toddlers as these relate to their ACT, exercise, and general needs to preserve long-term lung function; describe the management of complications related to aging in CF, including pneumothorax, haemoptysis, urinary incontinence, end-stage disease, and the impact of frailty in older patients; and discuss the role of exercise and management of musculoskeletal (MSK) issues, including postural changes, pain, and MSK assessments, as they relate to first-line treatments in the CF clinic.
