Ian Thornell, PhD, is an Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine within the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Occupational Medicine. Dr. Thornell is interested in the biophysical properties and regulators of ion channels and transporters in epithelia. His research focuses on studying how ion transport affects physiological processes using a variety of ex vivo and in vivo approaches, including molecular biology, biochemistry, electrophysiology, and fluorescent imaging.
