Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth
Dr. Alix Ashare is an Associate Professor of Medicine and Microbiology & Immunology at Dartmouth Geisel School of Medicine. After earning her MD from Vanderbilt University, Dr. Ashare completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where she also earned a PhD in 2008. Her current research focuses on the mechanisms by which dysfunction in innate immune cells in the lungs leads to chronic lung inflammation with a particular emphasis on cystic fibrosis. Dr. Ashare has taught graduate school courses and given medical school lectures on clinical and mechanistic aspects of cystic fibrosis. She has also mentored undergraduate students, medical students, graduate students, and fellows in her laboratory. Her work is currently funded by both the National Institutes of Health and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
