Dr. Jessica A. Alvarez, PhD, RD is an Associate Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids at the Emory University School of Medicine. She is a registered dietitian with a PhD in Nutrition Sciences and a Masters in Clinical Nutrition from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. Dr. Alvarez has expertise in human studies of nutrition, body composition, and assessment of human metabolism and has been steadily funded by the CFF and NIH. She serves as Co-Director of the NIH-funded P30 Nutrition, Lifestyle, and Behavior Research Core of the Georgia Cystic Fibrosis Research and Translation Core Center and as MPI for the CFF-funded national multi-site STRONG-CF study. An overarching goal of her research program is to gain a deep understanding of the role of diet and nutrition on CF clinical outcomes, including CF-related diabetes, in order to improve CF nutrition standard of care and long-term quality of life.
