Aymee Steidl, MSN, MA, RN, is a PhD candidate in Nursing Science at the University of Washington. She has 9 years of clinical pediatric nursing experience, including inpatient acute care, emergency medicine, and home care for medically complex children.
Her doctoral work focuses on pediatrics and shared management to improve pediatric adherence, transition success, and quality of life for children with chronic conditions. This research is supported by the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Fellowship and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Student Traineeship Award. Aymee is also a T32 pre-doctoral fellow in Research in Global Health Nursing, reflecting her strong interest in pediatric primary care globally.
She holds a Master's degree in both Nursing and Anthropology, with experience in quantitative and qualitative analyses, and a certificate in Global Women's, Adolescent, and Children's Health from the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington.
Her research has been presented at both domestic and international conferences, addressing pediatric chronic condition management, including cystic fibrosis, asthma, and HIV. And she has published work on shared management theory as well as on home-based symptom monitoring in children with asthma.
Alongside her research, she remains clinically grounded through volunteer work at a home for medically fragile children. Personally, Aymee is an implanted hearing aid user and has lived with significant hearing loss her whole life, giving her a firsthand understanding of what it means to live with a chronic condition.
