Abby Rose

Seattle Childrens

Abby Rose (She/Her) is a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) in the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) program and Pediatric Hemodialysis at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Abby, a Wisconsin native, earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire in 2018. She then completed her Master of Science in Child Life at Edgewood College in 2021 including a 600 hour child life internship at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. Abby initially started her career at Seattle Children’s in the Surgery Center and Ambulatory Clinics in 2022 before transitioning to the role of primary CCLS on the CF and Hemodialysis care teams in March of 2024. Abby's CF responsibilities center on the outpatient CF care clinic. During CF care clinics, Abby builds personalized coping plans and supports medical procedures, including blood draws, throat swabs, and vaccinations. She also consults on care needs, such as pill swallowing, treatment tolerance, and sibling support. Additionally, Abby leads the Beads of Courage program for the CF care center. Abby uses play, modeling, and communication—both verbal and written—to provide personalized education to meet each child's developmental needs. She promotes open communication for transparency and advocates for the rights of patients and families in various settings and procedures. Abby is eager to increase awareness of the child life field in CF settings and in pediatric care overall.
