Beth Sufian, JD Director of the CF Social Security Project, Sufian & Passamano LLP

Beth Sufian is a partner in the law firm of Sufian & Passamano, LLP. She is an attorney who focuses her practice on representing children and adults with Cystic Fibrosis from across the country in federal Social Security matters. Beth is the director of the CF Legal Information Hotline which has provided legal information to thousands of people with CF, their families and healthcare providers in the United States for 30 years. Beth is also Director of the CF Social Security Project which has successfully represented children and adults with CF in over 10,000 Social Security applications and Continuing Disability Reviews.
Notable cases-
Beth and her law partner handled cases against state Medicaid agencies from 1990-1996 advocating for coverage of the Vest airway clearance system. In 2015 the firm filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of 4 children with CF who had been denied coverage for the first CF modulator, Kalydeco, by Arkansas Medicaid. The firm handled the case pro bono. The case was resolved in favor of the girls and the consent decree held that Medicaid could not deny coverage for a medically necessary FDA approved drug based only on the cost of the drug.
