Binita Neupane, MD, DipABLM, First year Endocinology Fellow at Washington University at St Louis/ Barnes Jewish Hospital
I grew up in Itahari, a city a few hundred miles southeast of Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital. I spent my childhood in a joint family and shared a close bond with my great-grandmother. I went to medical school in Kathmandu, where my interest inendocrinology first began during my biochemistry classes. Working with mentors during clinical rotations made me realize endocrinology was what I wanted to do. I pursued thisdream by entering an internal medicine residency at Rochester General Hospital in New York. During residency, caring for a patient with osteoporosis inspired me to organize a quality-improvement project to improve DXA screening in our clinic. As chief resident, I discovered the importance of lifestyle medicine and helped launch a program in ourdepartment. After residency, I worked for three years as a hospitalist at Rochester General Hospital. Now, I am preparing to begin my Endocrinology fellowship at WashU.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, hiking, and spending time with my son and family.
