Sophia R. Levan, MD PhD

UCSF

Sophia Levan is a Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellow at University of California San Francisco. She received her MD PhD and completed her Internal Medicine Residency at UCSF. During her PhD she worked with Dr. Susan Lynch to determine the role of the human microbiome and the gut-lung axis in shaping the developing immune system. Her post-doctoral work with Dr. Joe DeRisi will focus on developing new technologies to differentiate between pathogenic and commensal bacteria in patients with cystic fibrosis.
