S07-- Immune Responses During Phage Therapy: The Good, the Bad, & the Memory

This symposium moves beyond “phage therapy 101” to focus on how host immune responses shape the success and failure of phage therapy for cystic fibrosis airway infections. Attendees will gain gain insight into how innate and adaptive immune responses might limit phage efficacy through antibody recognition, immune memory, and inflammatory pathways, while also highlighting emerging evidence for potential immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects of phage. Speakers will discuss insights from molecular studies, animal models, and delivery strategies that could help illuminate why phage therapy works for some patients but not others. The session will provide a forward-looking perspective on overcoming immune barriers, providing the audience with a deeper scientific framework to interpret clinical outcomes and guide therapeutic approaches.
