W06-- Uncovering & Addressing Health Inequities in CF

Health inequities continue to shape outcomes and care experiences for people with cystic fibrosis (CF). This workshop presents emerging research examining how social, structural, and interpersonal factors influence health across diverse CF populations. Presentations will highlight intimate partner violence and partner interference as underrecognized drivers of care disruption; Child Opportunity Index as a marker of neighborhood-level social determinants of health; and persistent racial and ethnic disparities in lung function, growth, and exacerbations despite highly effective modulator therapy. Additional work will explore how stigma and discrimination affect disclosure of unmet needs and engagement with resources, alongside qualitative insights into the experiences and care preferences of LGBTQIA+ individuals with CF.

Together, these studies provide a multi-level view of inequities in CF, spanning individual experiences, community contexts, and health system interactions. The session will focus on presenting these findings and their implications for understanding disparities in CF care. Discussion will follow, and we encourage attendees to engage with presenters and ask questions about the research and its relevance to clinical practice and future study.
