Dr. Lindsay Somerville, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at the University of Virginia and Associate Director of the Adult Cystic Fibrosis Program. Her clinical and academic work focuses on improving outcomes for people with cystic fibrosis through multidisciplinary care and quality improvement. She has led and contributed to multiple quality improvement initiatives at UVA Health and through the Cystic Fibrosis Learning Network, including telemedicine and care delivery innovation, and previously served as co-chair of the CFLN Provider Leader Group, a network focused on advancing quality improvement across CF centers. Her work in telehealth helped inform CF care models during the COVID-19 pandemic and has been recognized through national dissemination and publication. Dr. Somerville is also a core faculty member in the Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine fellowship and Director of the fourth-year Critical Care Medicine clerkship, where she trains learners to apply quality improvement principles, multidisciplinary care models, and clinical reasoning in patient care. In addition to her work in cystic fibrosis, she serves as Co-Director of the UVA Bronchiectasis and NTM Care Center, a nationally recognized program. Her research interests include inflammatory mechanisms in cystic fibrosis and bronchiectasis, as well as the application of translational and quality improvement approaches to improve patient care.
